Coaching Your New Consultants in November and December
Do you ever worry that November and December are not good months for a new Consultant to join your team? Are you concerned about how to coach them since a new jewelry line will be released in a short time? Here are some facts to help you feel confident about encouraging new Consultants to join your Downline during the busy holiday season and tips to help them be successful THIS season and going forward. You WILL want to offer the “gift” of a Cookie Lee business TODAY!
Share Cookie Lee with Confidence in November and December Holiday Shoppers Ensure a Successful Start There is NO better time to successfully kick off a new Cookie Lee business than during the busy holiday selling season. November and December are fantastic months to sell Cookie Lee jewelry because of the increased holiday shopping and all the opportunities for seasonal shows. Usually people are just buying for themselves, but at this time of year customers are spending two and three times as much since they are purchasing gifts. So, Consultants who sign up in November and December are able to earn back their investment quickly! Plus, they can use their profits and take advantage of the 50% Consultant discount for their own gift giving during the holidays.
Build Momentum for Spring/Summer Starting in November or December will also help your new Consultants get their feet wet and learn how to work their Cookie Lee businesses. They will build momentum and gain experience during these busy months so they are not starting from scratch when the new catalog is released in January. During this season, Consultants should be asking everyone they come in contact with to host a show. Let your new Consultants know that potential hostesses who say that they are “too busy right now” are the PERFECT candidates to host a show in the following season. Have your Downline set the goal to have at least four shows on the books for 2010 before the close of business in 2009; two shows in January and two in February. Remind Consultants to entice potential hostesses with the following details:
1) January hostesses will be among the FIRST to see the NEW spring/summer line. 2) A Cookie Lee show will be a great excuse for a Girls’ Night Out after the busy holiday season is over. 3) January shows provide a great opportunity to select jewelry for Valentine’s Day.
New Consultants will have the opportunity to practice interacting with their hostesses and feel successful by the time the Spring/Summer 2010 Catalog comes out in January.
Help Your New Consultants Get a Successful Start Give Tips for Choosing Inventory Whenever possible, it is best for new Consultants to sign up at Option 2 and get the most jewelry for their money. During the busy selling season, it is especially important to have as much product on hand as possible to meet the demands of holiday shoppers. Encourage your new Consultants to invest in a variety of items to have more pieces to display versus getting multiples of the same items. Remind them that they can always use remaining jewelry from fall/winter as holiday gifts or incorporate these items into their spring/summer inventory! The great thing about Cookie Lee is that Consultants have the flexibility to have a mix of everything from multiple seasons. Tell your new recruits that they NEVER need to worry about having past and current jewelry because what is old to a Cookie Lee Consultant is new to someone else!
Suggest Ideas for Seasonal Shows There are many opportunities for unique shows during November and December. Here are some of the show ideas that I provide to my new Consultants during this time of year…
-
Holiday Theme Introductory Show: New Consultants can have a “One Stop Holiday Shop” theme for their introductory show. Tell your new recruit to invite all of their family and friends to buy holiday gifts at her first Cookie Lee show! Plus, you will be there to help her and suggest ideas for exclusive holiday specials.
-
Informal Open House: Have your new Consultant contact every guest who was unable to attend their holiday-themed introductory show and invite them to stop by their home. Tell them to say, “I am so excited about my new business and I would love to get your opinion on the jewelry. Can I show you a few trays and find out what you think? If you bring a friend, I’ll reward you with a ‘freebie’ for your helpful feedback.” Once they see the beautiful jewelry, they will want to shop!
-
Seasonal Boutique Show: Suggest that your new Consultant find a friend who is also in direct sales to host a holiday boutique together. Recommend that they invite direct sellers who already have numerous customers and sell a non-competitive product. Have them tell those consultants to invite their contacts and fellow consultants. Consultants from other direct sales companies can be great customers!
-
Convenient Office Show: It is ideal to have new Consultants target offices with five or more women and workplaces with men who may want to shop for the ladies on their holiday list. Since convenience is the key at office shows, advise offering FREE or low-cost seasonal gift wrap to increase sales. CLICK HERE to check out all the gift wrap options available through Cookie Lee.
-
Thanksgiving Mini Show: Tell your new Consultants to bring their Tote Bag and wear their new Cookie Lee jewelry to Thanksgiving! It is an ideal event, when family is around, to talk about a new business and show the jewelry. Windows of opportunity open when Consultants are ready for business!

Show How to Use Cookie Lee Tools It is always important to instruct new Consultants on what tools they can use and what resources are readily available. I encourage all the Consultants in my Downline to get their Cookie Lee Tote Bag looking like the front window of their favorite department store during November and December. I explain that they can insert a Holiday Tote Bag window card with a message like, “Finish Your Holiday Shopping With ME!” To download these cards go to www.cookielee.com—Business Tools—Business Resources. I always have a Tote Bag window with children’s jewelry, casual pieces, my favorite item(s) and one with holiday glitz. I’ve sold so much jewelry while standing in line during the holidays. Just have your new Consultants remember to be prepared with current catalogs, petty cash, a Receipt Order Pad (Item #N1062, $2.50), Zippit Bags (Item #N0045, $3 pack of 100) and bestselling jewelry, so that they’re ready for business. Explain the Contact List Instruct new Consultants on the importance of creating a Contact List for hostesses, customers and potential Consultants and updating it throughout November and December. This list will make it easy for them to stay in communication with all their contacts and create their mailing list for the new catalog. Let new Consultants know about using the Business Builder Pad to obtain prospects’ information and becoming a CLICK member to organize and easily get in touch with everyone on their list. CLICK will enable them to promote their business by sending emails or flyers to as many contacts as they would like as often as they would like, with just one “click”. I encourage my new Consultants to send out an eCard or email announcing when the new catalog has arrived. In this announcement I also have them include a message saying, “If you would like to receive a hard copy catalog, please email me back and I will be happy to send one directly to you!” This way new Consultants are investing their money wisely and getting in touch with the interested people on their Contact List.
Prepare Your New Consultants for the Upcoming Season Provide Action Steps In addition to booking, selling and recruiting, it is important for Consultants who join Cookie Lee in November or December to be preparing for the launch of the Spring/Summer 2010 Catalog. These tasks will ensure that each new Consultant continues the initial success of their business into the next season.
-
Preorder Catalogs: I tell my new Consultants that if Cookie Lee offers an incentive on spring/summer catalog pre-orders, it is a MUST to take advantage of it! Consultants who pre-order catalogs are ready for business as soon as possible in the New Year.
-
Print Labels: Encourage new Consultants to create labels with their information so they are ready to stick those labels on their catalogs when they arrive. It is best to get these administrative tasks done after the selling season closes in December. That way, they won’t need to delay business once the new catalog launches.
-
Download Special Certificates: Have your new Consultants plan to put a Special Certificate with each Spring/Summer 2010 Catalog that they send. Special Certificates provide a variety of booking, sales or hostess specials to choose from and they will encourage immediate sales. Download them for FREE at www.cookielee.com—Business Tools—Business Resources.
-
Attend Events: I also tell my new Consultants about the upcoming spring/summer launch events in January. I explain all the benefits of attending a corporate launch, including how much fun we will have and how they will be motivated, educated and inspired to take their business to the next level!
-
Advertise and Plan YOUR Launch Event: Encourage your new Consultants to advertise their spring/summer launch and the perks of attending at ALL of their shows in November and December! I support my new Consultants in holding an open house event to launch the new line and kick-off their season. New Consultants may want to plan this show at their home on a date approximately a week after they get home from Spring/Summer 2010 Launch. By this point, they will have received all the catalogs and jewelry they ordered. More established Consultants may have this event as a Hostess Appreciation Show, however new Consultants can invite EVERYONE on their Contact List. Guests will be honored by being the first to see the new jewelry line and you may want to endorse having your new Consultant offer a special discount or incentive. Just remind her to have hostesses get the best rewards so others will want to become a hostess, too!
Get Them Going Now! When I started in October 2002, I didn’t know anything about building a team. I simply sold through the November and December holidays and made a profit. By the time I went to my first spring/summer launch, I had two months under my belt and I was ready to take my business to the next level. I encourage Consultants to give their prospective recruits this same opportunity, to start their business now and grow into the next season. DON’T WAIT until the next jewelry line is released in January to bring a new Consultant onto your team! It is too difficult to prejudge who may need the extra money or friendships this holiday season and a new adventure in 2010. There is no better time for a new Consultant to get started and build momentum with Cookie Lee than right NOW! |
